Jim Whiting is a professional editor, writer, and photographer and the author of more than 90 books, chiefly nonfiction works written for children. For 17 years he was editor and publisher of Northwest Runner magazine, a monthly publication. He frequently has written about music and is the author of 15 biographies of classical and modern composers in the Masters of Music series for young readers.

Yo-Yo Ma: A Biography -- A Winner!

Jim Whiting's biography of Yo-Yo Ma is a MUST ITEM for children's library departments everywhere! Although the book has been written for children, it would be valuable to adults who are fans of Yo-Yo Ma. Mr. Whiting includes an impressive bibliography and the index, in itself, makes for a fascinating read.

Not aimed at musicians wanting to know more about Yo Yo himself and his art. More like what he did and when. Not a high quality biography of a musician like many others I have read.
