Though she is free of the palace, rescued from her position as a blood slave, Aria is haunted by the memories of her time spent within the fortress, tormented by memories of Braith, the prince that betrayed her and shattered her heart. Every day is a struggle to get through, and the only solace she is able to find is with Max, her best friend, and fellow captive. Though Max does not understand her bond to Braith, he knows some of what she endured, and helps to ease some of the tattered pieces of her soul. Aria slowly begins to salvage the broken parts of her wounded spirit by throwing herself into the wonder of the woods she had so greatly missed, and the secure and reassuring love that Max freely gives her. Her world is thrown into a tailspin again though when a marauding group of vampires destroy the caves she had found temporary shelter in. Scattered about the forest, seeking to stay hidden and find her family, Aria is stunned when Braith, the monster that savaged her heart, reappears. Stunned by his sudden arrival in her world, Arianna is uncertain if he has come to recapture her, or to kill her for daring to escape. THOUGHTS
Renegade, book 2 is the follow up to Captured (The Captive Series Book 1). In book 2, I found the first few chapters of the story intense as Braith's anger towards Aria fuels him. It was definitely a darker side of him compared to book 1. As the story progressed and the intensity was over, the story then focuses on the history and back story of the characters and their families. This then introduces us to new characters as well as Braith's father, the king, who is apparently on everyone's 'I Hate You List'.
I find Aria and Braith's story a bit like a twisted version of Romeo and Juliet. Their connection is so strong that if anyone breaths wrong on Aria, Braith is ready to kill. This connection is later explained as certain things starts to fall into place between Aria and Braith. When Aria and Braith first connect again in the woods, it was intense, exciting, a bit dangerous and intriguing as their love/hate relationship goes to another level. While all this is going on, I do feel sorry for Max. Max was captured along with Aria in book 1. His feelings are changing for Aria and you can't help but feel for what he is going through.
Overall, interesting story/plot and characters. With how the story ends, there will be a book 3. For me, that's a bit annoying when the same characters are continuous in a series. For me that can dwindle my interest pretty quick if there isn't any closure. Nevertheless, that's my opinion, but others may feel different. But book 1 and 2 for me was interesting and I think worth the read definitely.

Left Me Wanting More...
By dayna
I read 'Renegade' the day after I finished 'Captured' and I found that while the story advanced, there was no real improvement in the development of the characters. Here me out-
The book picks up two months after 'Captured' and while Aria is with her family, she is not really. Aria's heart is still with the Prince and she cannot, as much as she seems to try, let go and move on with Max, the stable choice. Aria and her family are on the run, living in the caves of the forrest. The cave is a great metaphor for what Aria is feeling and she cannot stand staying in the tight, damp and dark confinds of the cave. Aria goes out for a hunt and stumbles upon the Prince. The blood bond between them is something that niether one of them expected- and more about this phenom is drawn out towards the end of the book.
The insanity of the Prince trying to be with Aria is predictable, they are eventually found out and choose to run, together. There a few action scences that I skimmed over because it seemed repetative. The same problem regarding the other stories I have read by Stevens remains- the internal dialouge of the characters and their feelings about certain situations. There is the over and over long paragraphs with the almost the same sentences throughout the story- the same realizations, it gets a little frustrating. While I can grasp what each character feels, it would be nice if they told one anohter as opposed to the mountains of paragraphs that re-hash the same thing. These mainly deal with what each character thinks about people, places and eventually one another.
The intense kisses are getting old. I mean come on, take the realtionship up a notch. The blood exchange is intamite, yes, but with the back story of the Prince and the fact that he is so old and experienced- it is becoming difficult to believe this intense physical attraction. I get that the author is trying to make their relationship something deeper- that the physical part is some what of a bonus- but it is getting frustrating. The Prince wants her, he tells us over and over and she loves him, we are told over and over. While it is usually nice that the author has the characters take their time before sex, here it is expected and it is frustrating when the author refuses to take it the next level. There are many creative paths that can be taken with regard to their relationship and I hope that the relationship is taken up a notch, but I am not sure that will happen because of how the story ended. It seems like this is one thing the author is drawing out and it is frustrating.
Overall, I will once more be back for the next installment because I like the world that Stevens created.
I hope for a few things- because I really want to love these books. I hope that the fighting is done better. I hope that the realtionship between the Prince and Aria becomes more. I hope that the author is not afraid to take risks and represent how war really is; that loss happens and sacrafices must be made. Love can sometimes conquer all, but sometimes it destroys everything.

Keeps getting better
By Tonya G
Aria is lost without Braith, not even her love of nature can heal her wounded heart. All she can think about his her love and of it was really twisted by Braith's secret. Braith is also lost, but in blood lust that can not sedate him. He is broken because Aria left him after she made a promise to love and never leave him.
The book picks up right where it left off, you will feel there pain, happiness, frustration and protectiveness for each other is this book.
I loved that there this book never ever made me doubt Arianna's and Braith's love for each other and they have a lot of obstacles to over come. I am can not wait until book three is out to see what becomes of Max and his heart breaking tribulations in war and in lost love, can he be trusted again? I would love to see more of William, Daniel and there father dialogue wise during the war an also Braith's sister Melinda, brother Jack, the vampire girl and his brothers in law Ashby come to life as well. The war is coming and it's going to be epic.
5/5 Deliciously, wonderful stars. Only question I have is, whens the next book coming out? I am definitly checking out the other books by this author.
